The last time anyone heard about the third film in the “Bridget Jones” franchise, the script was still being reworked to suit lead actors Renée Zellweger, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant. But fans have been getting antsy about the long-rumored sequel, with some wondering if the next chapter in bumbling Bridget’s story will ever be told.

When MTV News caught up with Grant in New York City on Friday (April 20), he explained that the British love triangle will return to the big screen … eventually. However, script problems continue to delay production.

“I’ve seen some scripts,” Grant said. “They haven’t quite hit the nail yet, but they will. They’re working on it.”

Since the script is still in the writing stages, now might be the time to request that Bridget’s two leading men, Daniel Cleaver and Mark Darcy, get into one of their infamous brawls, battling it out for Bridget’s heart.

“Yes, our public demands some more fisticuffs!” Grant exclaimed.

“Bridget Jones 3″ was first announced in August 2011. At one point, “Bridesmaids” director Paul Feig was attached to direct the film, but he exited last October. In November, Firth explained that “Full Monty” director Peter Cattaneo was in talks to take the helm.

Lane Garrison’s lawyer said today that his client will not be charged with felony domestic violence for allegedly attacking his ex-girlfriend, Ashley Mattingly.

Yet, anyway.

Harland Braun says he spoke with the D.A. Tuesday and was told prosecutors don’t have sufficient evidence right now to file a case against Garrison.

That could change, however, as the investigation continues. Lane’s case remains under review and charges stemming from his arrest still could be filed.

There’s also the matter of Garrison’s 2007 DUI-manslaughter conviction.

Braun he is getting in touch with the parole board to see if the department will take action against the former Prison Break star for his role in this case.

Even though he hasn’t been charged with domestic violence, Lane is currently under a parole hold in Beverly Hills jail while that matter is addressed.

Lane’s former girlfriend, Ashley Mattingly, claims he attacked her Saturday night and says the surveillance video shows the alleged attack go down.

Braun says the surveillance video is deceiving and it actually does NOT show Lane striking Ashley, but merely trying to grab his phone back from her.

Braun says he believes his client was convincing when he spoke with Beverly Hills police detectives, and that’s why no immediate charges have been filed.

The two definitely got into it in a bad way, but establishing whether a clear assault took place during the melee is a different story. Stay tuned.

Adam Lambert covers the latest issue of Instinct, a magazine that focuses on the LGBT community – and opens up to the publication on a topic that may cause some controversy for the former American Idol star.

“As a community, we’re a little bit resistant to a gay male pop star ourselves,” Lambert says. “It’s very easy for people to look at my origin, which is American Idol, and automatically assume that I’m a commercial sellout or a puppet or a flash in the pan.

“I don’t think I’m any of those things. There’s something weird there. We’re very eager to celebrate a strong female. But to celebrate a fellow gay man – it gets catty sometimes.”

The artist will soon be coming out with a new album, one he has described as especially personal, and he elaborated here regarding what fans can expect:

“This is the kind of music I listen to. I know the style of vocal I have is kind of big. It has a certain edge to it. I’ve always loved rock, but I also love stuff that is more groove-based, more funky, more soulful, more dance music.”

30 Seconds to Mars

Last we heard from 30 Seconds to Mars, the band was battling rumors about a potential break while celebrating a record-setting
 December live show in New York.

But after a few months of radio silence, not only are 30STM not taking time off, they’re forging ahead with their fourth album. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, singer Jared Leto said the group’s “excitedly working in the studio.”

In fact, Leto said he’s been quietly toiling away writing and recording “constantly” as he crafts the band’s future. He’s clearly been busy, as the singer revealed that he’s written 50 songs and is finalizing a list of producers for the as-yet-untitled effort, including M83′s Morgan Kibby.

“She came by and was playing some synths and doing some programming,” Leto said of a recent visit from the French electronica group’s keyboard player. “She’s a real talent. We’re working with some interesting people.” Leto is once again producing, though in addition to potentially working with Kibby the band is reuniting with legendary producer Steve Lillywhite.

No street date has been set for the follow-up to 2009′s This Is War, but in a release announcing the new album Leto promised that the sound would be a “dramatic departure from the past … very orchestral, narrative, interactive and even more electronic than previous projects.” The trio — which also includes Shannon Leto and Tomo Milicevic — are laying down the tracks in their Los Angeles studio, named “ICAASS,” for International Center for the Advancement of the Arts and Sciences of Sound, while also incorporating “site specific recordings” in such varied locations as India, Africa, Yosemite, the California desert and Europe.

After teaming with Kanye West for the War track “Hurricane,” Leto told RS that he’d love to work with Eminem this time around, as well as Bjö, the Cure’s Robert Smith and Sigur Rós.

Following their record-setting string of 309 shows on the War tour, the group will not play any gigs in 2012, but will broadcast a live performance from their studio on April 27th via Leto’s new website, VyRT.net. The gig will feature old favorites, previews of new material, a sneak peek at their new documentary, “ARTIFACT,” acoustic jams and some fan Q&A. Digital “tickets” for the show are available on the vyRT site.

How surprised was Wiz Khalifa to hear Kanye West name-drop him on his “Way Too Cold” single? “Very,” the Taylor Gang captain told New York radio host DJ Funk Master Flex during an interview Monday night. ” ‘Cause he said my name. I’ve gone a long time without anybody actually saying my name out loud like that. It wasn’t a bad thing.”

When Yeezy dropped the track, which was then named “Theraflu,” at the top of April, he thrilled fans with his fiery and off-the-cuff lyrics. On the song ‘Ye professed his love for Kim Kardashian, threw a jab at her soon-to-be ex-husband Kris Humphries and once again rapped about his ex-flame Amber Rose. But this time, West brought Rose’s fiancé Wiz into the mix. “The whole industry wanna f— ya old chick/ Only n—a I got respect for is Wiz,” Kanye rhymed on the song’s second verse.

Because of the very public nature of Amber and Kanye’s breakup, many assumed that he and Khalifa would naturally have beef. (There were even rumors that the two squared off at the Coachella music festival in 2011.) Wiz shot down the speculation. In fact, he says that he and Kanye don’t even know each other. “I never met him before … never in life,” the “Black and Yellow” MC said.

The rapper stressed everything was positive, and things certainly seem to be moving in the right direction for Wiz, who dropped the first single from his sophomore album O.N.I.F.C. on Monday. “Work Hard Play Hard” is produced by Stargate and features the TGOD leader flaunting the spoils of his success over a bouncy club track. “It’s crazy. We shot the video in Pittsburgh,” last week on the set of Maroon 5′s “Payphone” video. “It’s wild, just linking back up with Stargate, making another hit and gearing up for the second album, O.N.I.F.C. We’re about to do it all over again.”

While O.N.I.F.C. is scheduled for an August 28 release, Khalifa and his bride-to-be, Amber Rose, haven’t locked down a specific date to wed. “Well, we’re making the plans, and by we, I mean she’s making the plans,” he joked. “So we’re setting a date.”

After a few months of will-she-or-won’t-she debate as to whether Lindsay Lohan would actually appear in a made-for-TV biopic about Elizabeth Taylor, we finally have confirmation that she will officially take on the role of the Hollywood icon in the Lifetime movie “Liz and Dick.”

According to the network’s official announcement obtained by Deadline, the story will revolve around the torrid and headline-grabbing romance between the blue-eyed beauty and Hollywood leading man Richard Burton. The two megastars were the original Brangelina, and their tempestuous relationship was the most infamous celebrity love affair of its day.

“I have always admired and had enormous respect for Elizabeth Taylor,” Lohan said in the statement. “She was not only an incredible actress but an amazing woman as well. I am very honored to have been asked to play this role.”

This isn’t the first time Lohan has portrayed a legend. She’s done a few Hollywood pinup-inspired photos, including her Marilyn Monroe-esque photo shoot for Playboy, which garnered record sales when she graced the cover.

“We are thrilled Lindsay will portray beloved Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor,” Rob Sharenow, executive vice president of programming for Lifetime Networks, said in a statement. “She is one of the rare actresses who possesses the talent, beauty and intrigue to capture the spirit of such a provocative icon.”

Principal photography on the movie will begin in early June in Los Angeles.

There’s so much man meat in the “Magic Mike” trailer that it’s easy to forget that there are actual ladies in the June film.

Sure, “Mike” stars Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Matthew McConaughey, Alex Pettyfer and Joe Manganiello — we know, you need a second to catch your breath — but the Steven Soderbergh-directed flick also boasts some talented ladies, including Olivia Munn.

When MTV News caught up with the actress — who was being honored by Us Weekly as a “sexy tomboy” at the mag’s Hot Hollywood event — she opened up about being around all those guys and loving each and every minute of it.

“I think on set, with all these guys, I’m not a sexy tomboy; I’m not a tomboy; I’m not anything,” she said. “I’m just a voyeur, watching them.”

She then recalled hitting the set long before her call time just to gawk at the studs. “I’m on set when I’m not even working for, like, four hours, but I heard they’re dancing and they’re going to be naked, so I’m gonna be here early watching. So that’s what I am on set: more the voyeur watching.”

As for all the smooth moves, she shared that the film’s star — Magic Mike himself, Channing Tatum — might be the smoothest. “He’s truly, truly talented, and he’s so fun to watch, and it’s so sexy as well,” she said. “And then the person I was really impressed with was Matt Bomer, ’cause I didn’t know he could dance. He’s got this juicy butt. Like, I just want to make wishes on it, it’s so beautiful.”

With the success of “The Hunger Games,” it’s no surprise Jennifer Lawrence is a sought-after leading lady. With three films hitting theaters this fall — including “House at the End of the Street” and “The Silver Linings Playbook” — she has a busy schedule, but it looks like Lawrence might add another project to her repertoire.

Deadline Hollywood reports that Lionsgate’s production president, Erik Feig, has acquired the rights to gossip columnist Jeanette Walls’ best-seller “The Glass Castle: A Memoir.” Gil Netter (“The Blind Side”) is set to produce and Marti Noxon (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “I Am Number Four”) is attached to pen the script.

Walls’ book follows her nomadic childhood as she grew up moving around the Southwest desert with her parents and three siblings. When he was sober, her father Rex nurtured his children’s imagination and taught them to embrace life. Her mother Rose Mary was an artist who would rather paint and write than be responsible for her family. When their money was finally gone, they returned to West Virginia where her father drank and stole and Walls and her siblings were forced to support each other. While her tale seems grim, she paints her parents in a loving light because, despite her family’s flaws, they played a huge role in her success. Upon its release in 2005, the book spent more than 250 weeks on the New York Times Best Sellers list, which was a first for any memoir.

The story is a departure from the male-centered movies Lionsgate usually releases. They’re known for films such as “Warrior,” “The Lincoln Lawyer,” “Abduction” and “Conan the Barbarian.” But perhaps with the overwhelming success of “Hunger Games” and its strong heroine, the company will focus on more female-lead narratives.
